Clarification*Everything in this post is true as it happened. However, some may have concluded that Bob’s Watches violated their Consignment Agreement by holding my cash payment for over 30 days, while in fact they didn’t.

Why do the photos in like 90% of these requests for authentication look like they were taken with a flip phone from the late 1990s.

Just got the email. What do you all think of this? I'm a bit bummed as I own the the original re-issue and it became scarce, but I do think it is a great looking watch.

I hope that i'm not posting in the wrong place, but if so, my bad. This is my first visit to the watch forum. For many years I have had a Paul Portinoux wrist watch. It has given me great service until lately. All appears normal but the watch poops out in about 12 hours of running. I called a local jeweler to see about cleaning etc. The price quoted scared me. Can anyone help me with some info about this watch. The info on the back is: #858 and under that:7888Q. Does this mean anything?

That my friend is the thickest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland, and water resistant to three atmospheres. It was the sports watch of the '80s. It tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad.

#1 · I've been on this forum for a few years now. I've noticed that if someone signs up and asks about authenticating a watch given, left to, or found in a sock drawer, they almost always get rude comments if the watch doesn't look real. It's a heck of a lot easier to join a large forum and ask questions. Versus trying to find a reputable watchmaker that may not be familiar with a certain brand or model. Most people couldn't tell a fake from the real thing.

#1 · Speedmaster Chronoscope > Speedmaster Professional? Not trying to start a fight, just some friendly discussion 😊I’ve recently taken delivery of a Speedmaster Chronoscope and I love the look, build and fit. The watch barely gets a mention in various articles and so on, and it could be a real sleeper, particularly if it’s discontinued soon.

This one hurts - it’s one of my favorite watches but has been seeing very little wrist time, so up on the block it goes. Up for sale is my Longines Heritage 1973 Racing Chronograph (year of manufacture - 2014). This stunner has the sexy looks of a chrono from the heady days of road racing but houses a modern, column wheel L688.2 movement exclusive to Longines. The 1973 features a slick tonneau case and a panda style racing dial with a stealthy twelve hour counter at six and date at 4:30.

At the time of release, this was Oris’ flagship pilot watch, with a hand wound, in-house movement featuring an impressive 10 day power reserve. The Cal. 111 features an attractive turbine finned bezel and dark gray sunburst dial. Arabics are applied blocks of lume. Combined with lumed sword hands, the watch shines like a torch. The watch features two subdials - running seconds at nine nestled next to the date window, and power reserve indicator at three.

The Sector Pilot features a rotating countdown bezel. There’s an angled, indexed chapter ring that transitions to a silver dial with a circular brushed outer ring and sand textured inner surface, with applied, lumed arabics and a clever, stacked, day/date display. Hands are classic pilot-style swords. The seconds hand has a lumed arrow tip. The case features a mix of brushed and polished finishes, with drilled lugs and a screw down crown.
