The final day of Download Festival 2024 is, judging by many comments online from attendees and those who wish they were going alike, “the most stacked” line up of any day on this years’ festival. It’s Slam Dunk time again – heralding the start of the festival season with the promise of sunny skies (hopefully) and sets from some of the biggest rock, pop punk and emo bands in the scene (definitely). We headed to Hatfield to see what’s in store this year. At the Slam Dunk stage, Head Automatica are battling with poor sound. The swaggering Solid Gold Telephone falls flat, and fan favourite Brooklyn Is Burning sounds surprisingly lacklustre.

After receiving huge critical acclaim for their album ‘Sanguivore’, goth rock group Creeper have just released ‘Sanguivore: Special Edition’. The band have launched this album alongside a new track named Love and Pain. Additionally, this comes accompanied by three other new tracks, expanding the universe of their vampiric rock opera.

It still feels weird seeing Holding Absence (7/10) playing rooms as big as this one, but at this point, it really shouldn’t – they’re at the top of their game, and judging by the roar as they come onstage, a good portion of the crowd are here just for them.

Underoath, the metalcore legends, have announced a series of headline dates in the UK for June. Last year, the band released two singles, Lifeline (Drowning) and Let Go. These singles marked their first releases under their new label MNRK and the first new material since the album Voyeurist in 2022. Now the band will be taking to stages across the UK. The tour will start in Bristol on June 24 before stopping off in Birmingham, London and Manchester.

Self Hell, While She Sleeps sixth studio album, comes at a time where the band have never been bigger. Their magnificent Alexandra Palace headline show last Autumn shows that they are now at the point where they’ve got the catalogue and the authority to put on brilliant arena shows. This Summer has them appearing on their biggest festival slots of their career so far, including sub-headlining the second stage at Download on the Saturday night.
