The Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) is preparing to fund the use of psychedelic-assisted therapies to treat veterans with PTSD and depression. Veterans hope it will help ex-service members who have struggled to find relief with conventional medicine. The DVA plans to finalise its assessment guidelines for psychedelic-assisted therapies later this year. When former soldier Daniel Vincent was medically separated from the military in 2019, he left with PTSD and a major depressive disorder.

Four people have been saved from a flipped demountable building and thousands are without power as severe thunderstorms pass across New South Wales. The Bureau of Meteorology says very dangerous thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging, locally destructive winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours.

New South Wales towns known for their hot, dry climates are experiencing an increase in humid days. Increased moisture in the air means evaporative cooling, which many houses are fitted with, is not as effective and can create a breeding ground for mould. Many residents in NSW are opting for refrigerative air conditioning, but experts warn this will not solve issues with mould. A controversial transmission line project seen by the federal government as critical to Australia's renewable energy transition has cleared its last major hurdle. The government has approved the $4.8 billion HumeLink project which will build 365 kilometres of new transmission lines in southern New South Wales, connecting Wagga Wagga, Bannaby and Maragle.
