The High Court in Eldoret has dismissed an application by a housing company to control part of the late farmer Malakwen arap Sisiwa’s multi-billion-shilling estate. Justice Reuben Nyakundi dismissed the application by the Rural Housing Estate associated with Shrikesh Gheewala that sought the revocation of certificate of confirmation grant issued to the deceased’s four children. Justice Nyakundi said the company was at liberty to engage with the appointed trustees of the estate on their interests.

Three children died after fire broke out in their house on Wednesday at Njambini in Yamumbi, Uasin Gishu county. Kapseret sub county police commander Zephaniah Kamuren said the children aged between 1 and 8 were locked in house while their mother was away. "Two of the minors were burned beyond recognition while one of them suffered severe burn wounds," Kamuren said. The police boss the inferno razed the rented house which was constructed using mud and iron sheets.

Jackton Odhiambo, the prime suspect in the murder of LGBTQ activist Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo alias Chiloba has been found guilty of the activist’s brutal murder. Eldoret High Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi noted in his judgment that Odhiambo, who was the last person seen with the deceased, premeditated the murder and bore malice aforethought.

A section of the late prominent Uasin Gishu farmer-cum-politician Jackson Kibor’s family has asked the Eldoret High Court to strike out a forensic report tabled in court by his fourth widow, Eunitah Kibor. While appearing virtually before Justice Emily Ominde in a pending succession battle, Kibor’s children, represented by lawyer Maathai Maina, told the court that the court had not ordered the report tabled by Kalya and Company Advocates and should, therefore, be disregarded.

Suspected serial killer Evans Juma Wanjala who is accused of killing five minors in Moi’s Bridge, Uasin Gishu County has confessed to murdering a 10-year old girl. Appearing before Justice Reuben Nyakundi at the High Court in Eldoret, Wanjala, 36, who was to defend himself, shelved his defence and confessed to killing the minor, Stacy Nabiso in 2021. He told the judge that he would instead seek a plea bargain deal with the prosecution.

CCTV footage that forms crucial evidence in the trial of an Eldoret lawyer accused of killing his colleague in 2019 is missing. The High Court in Eldoret has ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to issue a gazette notice on the nomination of Evans Kipruto Kapkea as Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor within seven days. Justice Reuben Nyakundi wants IEBC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Marjan Hussein Marjan to issue the notice recognising Kapkea following his nomination and successful vetting by the County Assembly to replace former Deputy Governor John Barorot who quit in August.

A woman has sued her estranged husband for allegedly selling Sh25 million matrimonial property without her consent. Rosa Cheruiyot has accused her husband, Richard Ruto, a retired employee of East Africa Tanning and Extract Company Limited of selling the five acre prime property located in Uasin Gishu county to Ben Chumo, former Kenya Power Managing Director.
