Deadly Early Morning Shooting Under Investigation: Philadelphia Police

The shooting happened before 4 a.m. on the 200 block of West Somerset Street in Kensington, according to PPD. The victim, a man in his early 30s, was struck in the abdomen, right leg, and left arm, police wrote. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead around 4:20 a.m., authorities said. His name was not reported as of late Friday morning. No arrests have been made and no weapons recovered, PPD added.

One suspect broke a fence lock and forced his way into the backyard of a home near Pine and Byberry roads on July 5, according to investigators. The second suspect, who was wearing a surgical mask and a hat, knocked on the front door of the home. The trio tried to get inside through a sliding glass door at the rear of the house but fled when they saw someone inside, police added. They reportedly left the area in a gray minivan.

Shane P. Cassidy, 24, is accused of stalking a Unity Township woman and sending her threatening text messages, said the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office. The victim told authorities she received the messages from multiple phone numbers over a period of months, officials said. Some of the messages allegedly contained "photoshopped and superimposed images" of the victim, according to prosecutors.
Mom Left Infant In Car On 90-Degree Day, Quakertown Police Say

Janelle Loveless, 33, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, according to borough police. The infant was spotted in an unattended car at 245 W. Broad St. on July 5, authorities said. The windows were slightly cracked and the car was not running, officials wrote. Bystanders removed the baby from the vehicle and contacted police, who found Loveless nearby, authorities said. The infant was taken to St. Luke's Hospital-Bethlehem Campus for treatment and was later released.

The patient arrived at the 100 E. Lehigh St. hospital "displaying violent and agitated behavior," security staff told authorities. He fought with nursing staff as they tried to give him medicine with a syringe, knocking the syringe away and "causing it to poke a security guard in the arm," PPD said. When a recovery specialist tried to intervene, the patient "stabbed him twice in the left forearm with the used needle," police continued.
SUV Slams Into 7-Eleven In Northeast Philadelphia: Police

The driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee lost consciousness while headed west on Harbison Avenue around 12:45 a.m., authorities said. The Jeep drove into the parking lot of a Bustleton Avenue 7-Eleven, struck a parked tractor-trailer, then hit a 34-year-old pedestrian, police wrote in a release. It hit the storefront before coming to a rest, they added. The pedestrian was taken to Torresdale Hospital in critical condition, PPD said. Detectives are investigating the crash.
Coroner IDs Woman Killed By Train In Emmaus

Teresa G. Bell was hit while trying to cross the railroad tracks on South Third Street around 1:15 p.m., officials believe. She died at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries, the Coroner's Office said. "My deepest and heartfelt condolences are with the family, friends, neighbors, and entire Emmaus community as they grieve the sudden and tragic loss of Teresa," said Coroner Daniel A. Buglio. In addition to the Coroner's Office, Emmaus police are investigating.
