A stretch of the A1 is partially blocked following a crash. Police were called to a single-vehicle crash on the A1 at Wothorpe at 6.40am today (Tuesday, April 15). The vehicle was blocking one lane on the northbound carriageway and a lane closure was in place while recovery took place. The road has reopened, however, there are delays due to the backlog of traffic. Drivers travelling on the A43 towards Stamford are also facing delays as a result of the crash.

The owner of a dog accessories business hopes to get tails wagging with its first bricks and mortar store. Ruff and Tumble is opening in St Mary’s Street, Stamford on Friday (April 18) in the unit formerly home to Katie Cardew. The Oakham-based business has been selling dog drying towels since 2013, but up until now this has been done online and at events.

Walk of witness events will take place on Good Friday in towns across the area. Stamford's Walk of Witness is from midday beginning at the bottom of Ironmonger Street. The Easter event will start with prayers and hymns and includes a procession around town following a person carrying a large wooden cross. Oakham’s event begins from the Chapel of St John and St Anne in St Anne’s Close at 10.30am.

Plans for five new homes on the outskirts of a town have been refused by a council. Stamford-based Exeter Court 1 Limited was seeking permission from Rutland County Council for five self-build homes on greenfield land south of Braunston Road in Oakham. Plans included widening the access point at 172 Braunston Road and providing garages and off street parking for residents of the detached homes.

Published: 05:00, 15 April 2025 A woman with disabilities who uses an electric scooter as a ‘lifeline’ has been stopped from taking it on the bus. For the past five years 33-year-old Jenna Wilmot from Deeping St James has been using an E-scooter to get about. Jenna, who has global developmental delay which causes her mobility issues, had been riding the scooter to the bus stop in Market Deeping, where she catches a Delaine Bus to Bourne for her part-time job at the leisure centre.
