Nearly a year after 19-year-old Luis Manuel Arguello-Inglis was shot and killed at Dolores Park, police today announced an arrest in connection with the June 2024 homicide. While Arguello-Inglis’ name is not in the San Francisco Police Department press release, the timing and location of the killing — June 5, 2024 on the 500 block of Dolores Street — are a match.

A fourth playground fire in the month of May broke out in the Outer Richmond at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday night, burning down the playground structure at Lincoln Park. This comes on the heels of two recent fires at nearby Lafayette Elementary School that destroyed a PTA storage shed and the schoolyard play structure, and a May 10 fire also at Lincoln Park.

After three years of organizing and two years after forming a union, workers at the California Academy of Sciences ratified their first contract today. Eighty-seven percent of the union’s roughly 350 members voted to ratify the contract, which consists of wage increases alongside protections to strike and additional inclusivity measures. Workers’ minimum wage will increase from $20.25 per hour to $25 an hour by July 2026, with future increases between 8 and 35 percent over the next three years.

Campus residence halls and apartments will close May 5 at noon. Graduating seniors and students who have received approval for extended housing may remain in their assigned housing until May 12 at noon, the day after Commencement.

An hour and a 45 minutes before Duke officially announced that it would be enacting its severe weather and emergency conditions policy Jan. 21, students raced across the snow-coated campus to secure a tenting spot for the Duke vs. UNC men’s basketball game. Race to the Secret Spots (R2SS) is an annual competition hosted by K-Ville Nation, the undergraduate student line monitors, to determine which students can “white” and “flex” tent.
