By 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Sunset Park was already warming up and nearly deserted — except for a few determined locals squeezing in their workouts before the 10 a.m. heat warning took effect. Runner Hank Melton said early mornings are the only way he can get his miles in safely. “I’m here getting my early morning run in before it gets too hot,” Melton said.
