LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The latest report from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority revealed the tourism slump continues in Las Vegas. Visitors were down just over 5% in April, compared to the same time last year. Rideshare drivers in the valley told 8 News Now it is affecting their business. “You can tell this city is not pulsing the way it used to,” Uber driver Valentino Xhakli said.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — As animal abandonment issues grow in Las Vegas, non-profit Pawtastic Friends founder, Melissa Novelli, told 8 News Now, they have been overwhelmed with calls. The non-profit, founded in 2016, trains shelter and rescue dogs to prepare them for adoption, however, they are not a shelter themselves. “Yesterday was a horrible day for me,” she explained.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A 164-page complaint has been filed against Drag’n Ass Rescue Sanctuary. Some of those concerns in the document include alleged neglect and trapping of wild burros. Kathy Jenkins, the founder of Oatman Burros Sanctuary, filed the complaint with the sheriff, county manager, and animal control after her personal experience with Drag’n Ass. In April, Jenkins’ sanctuary struggled with an influenza outbreak.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The UNLV School of Engineering has officially launched its 7th annual “GenCyber” camp. This year’s camp has drawn its largest group yet, with 70 students registered for the week-long experience. For the first time, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, is introducing VR activities, and this year’s theme is inspired by the hit TV show “Squid Game.”“It’s fun, it’s really engaging, really hands-on, interactive,” Benjamin Guerrera said.
