    On March 31, 2024, USCIS intends to notify individuals if they were selected in the H-1B lottery. Recent years have shown the odds of being selected can be around 25%. Each year hundreds of thousands enter to be selected in the H-1B visa lottery in the United States. For many individuals the H-1B lottery is the only way to secure work authorization in the United States, including U.S. international students nearing the end of their Post-Graduate Optional Practical Training (OPT) period.

    On August 28th, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada ("IRCC") announced that, effective immediately, it has ended its temporary public policy that allowed visitors to apply for a work permit from within Canada. The policy was initially set to end on February 28th, 2025. This public policy was initially introduced in August 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    AbstractVoltage-sensitive calcium channels (VSCCs) influence bone structure and function, including anabolic responses to mechanical loading. While the pore-forming (α1) subunit of VSCCs allows Ca2+ influx, auxiliary subunits regulate the biophysical properties of the pore. The α2δ1 subunit influences gating kinetics of the α1 pore and enables mechanically induced signaling in osteocytes; however, the skeletal function of α2δ1 in vivo remains unknown.
