The bone response to exercise is based on mechanical stimulation, as well as the integration of biochemical signals generated during and after exercise [2]. Recent evidence indicates that exercise leads to increased secretion of the myokine irisin, which plays a significant role in bone homeostasis and metabolic regulation [3].
