HR directors have seen their pay grow at a faster rate than most other roles within the people profession over the past year, according to a report from IDR. According to the analysis, the median salary for HR directors has increased by 20.9 per cent – climbing from £111,982 in 2024 to £135,381 in 2025. By contrast, HR function heads experienced a smaller pay rise of 8.7 per cent, with median earnings rising from £73,246 last year to £79,600 in 2025.
