Dim sum, the Cantonese culinary tradition of eating all manner of steamed and fried dumplings, is traditionally a weekend brunch thing. In Houston, however, a handful of restaurants have it available seven days a week. Selecting delicacies from pushcarts rolled around the dining room is our favorite way to experience dim sum, but plenty of spots where you mark up a sheet of paper to order are still well worth the visit.

After Covid-19, however—much like everywhere else in the city— prices have soared. I eat around Asiatown pretty much every week, and speaking from personal experience, a simple Chinese takeout of three dishes can easily set you back $40 to $50. Ditto for lunch for two with an appetizer and drinks. And don’t let me get started on the cost of solo dining.

Houston is calling, y’all, and there’s an Airbnb that’s got just what you're looking for when you visit. The nation’s fourth-largest city is home to so much to see, do, and eat. In recent years, Space City has upped its food game, so you’ll find excellent steakhouses, delicious Tex-Mex, craft barbecue, and incredible Asian food in the area. It's also home to NASA, fantastic shopping at the Houston Galleria, and a thriving museum district and performing arts scene.

At J.A.M. Viet Kitchen in Houston's West Side, one of the new featured cocktails is an espresso martini. But it's not the typical espresso martini you'll find at a cocktail bar. Here, it's a "Cà Phê Trứng Martini," (Cà phê trứng means egg coffee), and it's the only place in town where you'll get an espresso martini made with Vietnamese egg coffee's signature fluffy milk foam.
