SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - For the last couple of San Luis, Arizona city council meetings, the call to the public section was not a part of the agenda. Some residents voiced how upset they were over this decision and reached out to News 11. We spoke with the mayor who shares why this portion of the meeting was temporarily removed from the agenda. About 10 residents walked into Wednesday night’s council meeting with signs to tell the city council to put the call for comments back in the agenda.

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) says it's celebrating Earth Day by highlighting its focus on entirely renewable resources. Since 2018, the IID says its had a 100% coal free resource portfolio. It's holding an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 12. The IIID plans to bring the community together and give mother nature a hand too.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A local non-profit is hosting a fundraiser for a good cause. Crossroads Mission is having a Drive-thru Barbeque on Friday, April 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Motel 8 parking lot on 17th Street and Riley Avenue near Navy Federal Credit Union. All proceeds will go towards a much needed facility.

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A non-profit organization gives local families a key to their new home in San Luis, Arizona. 11 families participated in the self-help program by Comite de Bienestar. They worked together along with a construction company to build their houses. One new home owner says this a dream comng true. "Building our own house gives an extra value to our lives and very happy," said Carmen Oliveros, a new house owner.

Kennedy Jr. announced that states can stop those using federal food assistance from buying soft drinks. Kennedy Jr. made the announcement during a meeting with West Virginia's state governor, who signed a legislation banning certain foods. West Virginia is the first to band food containing seven artificial food dyes and two preservatives.
