(KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial County Fire Department (ICFD) continues to investigate a fire which destroyed a mobile home and two trucks. The fire happened Monday afternoon on Fawcett Road near Dogwood Road in Heber. The fire started with two trucks full of clothing and spread to a mobile home and into an agricultural field. One family was displaced.

Homicides drop significantly in San Luis, Mexico

SAN LUIS, Mexico (KYMA, KECY) - The Sonora State Police took control of security in San Luis, Mexico, for the second time in less than a year due to an increase in homicides. From January through April, there were more than 100 homicides in San Luis, Mexico. In the first three weeks since the state police took charge of security, they've only had two homicides, according to the Sonora Secretary of State. The national guard and the city police also participated in the security operations.

El Centro police tell us the fight took place on Eucalyptus Avenue near 3rd Street around 11 in the Morning on Thursday. During the altercation, two men sustained serious injuries that required life-saving measures from police until El Centro Fire arrived. Both men were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center.

As part of the drill, Ed Pastor Elementary School in San Luis, Arizona evacuated its students from the classrooms to a safe spot a few blocks away. School officials were informing parents through texts messages about the situation and how to pick up their kids at Eligio Ramirez Park.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A fire broke out Friday morning in the area of Engler Avenue and 13th Street. Rural Metro Fire and Yuma Fire worked together to contain a fire at an auto parts shop north of Yuma Palms. The fire started around 9 a.m. at Engler Avenue near 13th Street. Rural Metro says a brush fire got into the building and spread to the lot with crushed cars and chemicals. One person working on-site was burned and taken to Onvida Health. Two Rural Metro firemen were injured.

(KYMA, KECY) - Two people connected to the murder of a Calipatria resident were back in court Thursday, where they learned about DNA evidence tied to the case. 22-year-old Johvan Herrero and 25-year-old Xochitl Arce were arrested for the murder of 28-year-old Nicholas Spence in January. Herrero's defense attorney asked the judge for more time to receive DNA results that could be used as evidence in the case.

Nearly 30 Arizona Western College nursing students were inducted into the Organization of Associate Degree Nurses Honor Society. They represent academic excellence and community service.
