In the interest of full disclosure, in 30 years of covering the Eagles’ draft adventures, I have correctly predicted their first draft pick exactly once: in 2021, when I foresaw them moving up to take DeVonta Smith, who, I believe, one day will prove to be the best receiver they’ve ever drafted. So that makes me 1-for-30, or about as good as most prognosticators, local and national.

As the draft approaches on Thursday, I don’t understand the general indifference in Philadelphia surrounding the possibility of the Eagles trading Dallas Goedert. He is an elite tight end, both as a receiver and a blocker. There should be anger. Outrage. Incredulity. For a team rebuilding, or a team without a proven quarterback, this might make sense. For a star-studded team with a superstar quarterback hoping to repeat as a Super Bowl champion, it’s crazy talk. Goedert is entering his eighth season.

After 2 seasons of declining defensive play, Trea Turner spent six weeks this spring listening to Bobby Dickerson’s coaching. It’s early, but he looks like a good shortstop again. #Phillies https://t.co/C2TYOD9Opg
