Six Flags Great America in north suburban Gurnee opens for the 2025 season this weekend, with opening day on Friday. The park will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. It will be open only on Saturday and Sunday the following two weekends (April 26-27 and May 3-4) before expanding to more weekday hours throughout May.

The Silver Dollar City theme park in Branson, Missouri is blasting into 2025. I was there last week to check out what’s new at the park and to get another look at the construction site of the new Silver Dollar City Resort hotel. The 262-room resort is currently under construction just down the street from the theme park. It’s part of a $500 million investment Silver Dollar City is making to expand the theme park and its offerings.
