CLEVELAND — The word “Esperanza” means hope in Spanish – and a special edition of our We the People show airing at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, will showcase how the Esperanza Inc. organization has brought hope to many Cleveland-area Hispanic and Latinx students. During the show, which will air on 3News, you’ll hear from alumni of Esperanza, ranging from a bank vice president to a college administrator.

CLEVELAND — Morelle McCane, the first female boxer from Cleveland to compete in the Olympics, took a break from training Thursday to speak at the City Club downtown. "I wouldn't be here without my community," she said at the luncheon while surrounded by family, friends, and local civic leaders. Many fellow alumni of Glenville High School were in the audience, wearing the school's red and black colors.

CLEVELAND — For more than 40 years, Coats for Kids Cleveland has been collecting and providing coats to children in need. And although the organization’s mission remains the same, it will be approaching that mission in a brand-new way this year. “For the first time ever and going forward we are discontinuing the donated coats portion of our campaign,” said Debbie Martinko, Executive Director of Coats For Kids Cleveland.

CLEVELAND — At 3News, we take our “Education Station” reputation seriously, and that’s what motivated our employees to spend the past month collecting school supplies for Cleveland students. Backpacks, notebooks, folders, pens, crayons, paper – our employees donated carloads of supplies necessary for a successful school year and brought it all to Morningstar Baptist Church in Cleveland, where the Buckeye Thrives Community Resource Fair was held Aug. 18.
