ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A new Mayor of Saint Louis and a new public safety director. Shawn Dace, is a retired Saint Louis Police Major, he replaces Charles Coyle immediately. Dace retired from the St. Louis Police Department in February of 2025 after serving since 1980. Dace tells KMOX, he first met Mayor Cara Spencer in 2015 when she was an alderwoman and he was a newly appointed Captain in the Third District.

BERKELEY, MO (KMOX) - Over two hundred Missouri and Illinois police and sheriff's departments had representatives in Berkeley at the Renaissance Airport to make J.D. Daniel and honorary police officer. D.J. made national headlines after he was made an honorary secret service agent during President Trump's State of the Union.. DJ's dad, Theo Daniel , says, his child's brain cancer has metastasized to his spine and doctors have found three more tumors.

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - In an effort to halt the state from taking over the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the City is suing Missouri in Federal Court. The lawsuit says a clause in the new state law that forbids city officials from "interfering" in any way with the board violates their First Amendment rights to speak out against it. Co-plaintiff Aldermanic Board President Megan Green believes the new law is unconstitutional.

WASHINGTON, MO (KMOX) - Sixteen year old Beaufort Leslie Volunteer Firefighter Chevy Gall is being remembered as an "old soul" by Pastor Paul Scheperle of Life Stream Church in Washington Missouri. Pastor Scheperle asked for Chevy's family to be overshadowed by God because this is a difficult day of trouble. Scheperle told family, friends and co-workers no one expects something so tragic to happen. Firefighter Gall was responding to a water rescue call during the height the storms on April 4th.

Proposition B, which would have given the county council the power to fire with or without cause, department heads falls to defeat. Almost 62-percent of Saint Louis County voters said no to Prop B, with only 38-percent supporting it.
