WASHINGTON - Continuing a trend that has lasted nearly two decades, more older women are giving birth than females in their teens and 20s. In 2024, the number of teenagers giving birth fell to its lowest level since 1991, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday. The birth rate for 15- to 17-year-olds fell 4% compared with 2023 and was down 3% for 18- and 19-year-olds.

Most young Americans in a new Harvard Youth Poll say the country is headed in the wrong direction. Only one-third approve of President Donald Trump or either party in Congress. More than 40% also report they are barely getting by financially.
