With less than five days left of the school year at Lyman Gilmore Middle School in Grass Valley, students in an eighth grade advanced art class are working hard to complete a mural they designed and created with the help of their art teacher Jennifer Ray. “We wanted to give something back to our school,” graduating eighth grader Alyssa Burnett said.

The Grass Valley City Council approved the fiscal year 2025-26 preliminary budget in preparation for a public hearing and final approval set for June 24. A brief overview of the key funds that support the majority of citywide operations was presented on Tuesday evening by Jennifer Styczynski, Deputy Finance Director. Styczynski stated that inflationary increases for fuel and electricity, as well as operating costs, impacted the budget.
