DALLAS — High winds have impacted North Texas for the better part of the last week. Unfortunately, this brings high fire danger, dusty horizons and increased pollen levels. The Earth is always trying to balance itself out. Because of its spherical shape and tilt, it heats unevenly. Generally, it is warmer at the equator, where the sun shines directly, and colder at the poles, where the sun shines at an angle. This is also why the Earth experiences seasons.

DALLAS — A Red Flag Warning is issued when weather conditions are highly favorable for wildfires and grassfires to start and spread rapidly. While it doesn't mean a fire is currently burning, it does indicate that extreme caution is necessary. On Friday, extremely gusty west winds up to 65 mph and very low humidity levels (as low as 10-15%) will create dangerous fire weather conditions across North and Central Texas.
