Quebec provincial police (SQ) arrested a man after the body of a 45-year-old woman was found in a home in Châteauguay. According to the SQ, Chateauguay police discovered the woman’s body around 3 p.m. Wednesday in a home on Jules-Dumouchel Street on Montreal’s South Shore. The file was then transferred to the SQ, which said it intercepted a vehicle and arrested the 49-year-old suspect. Investigators will interview him to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was shot in the upper body and a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the lower body during an altercation in the Southwest borough Friday night. The SPVM received a 911 call around 7:55 p.m. reporting a fight involving multiple individuals on Raudot Street near d’Aragon Street. Police found the two injured teens at the scene. Both were transported to hospital and are now out of danger. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage.

McGill University has reversed changes it made to this year’s convocation ceremony following backlash from graduating students. The university will once again offer four free tickets per graduate, walking back its earlier decision to provide only two and charge $25 for each additional ticket. In a letter sent to graduating students, McGill apologized and acknowledged that the situation could have been handled better.

Quebec’s automobile insurance board has hired a firm to conduct an independent audit into the cause of the computer outage that shut down all of its service centres this week. In a statement, the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) said it did not want to jump to conclusions and that it had been focusing on finding a solution and getting its systems back up and running.
