Well, here we are. My last day, and last FGF. When I started at STW Towers, Thursdays were largely taken up with taking increasingly ridiculous photos of whatever products had landed. I landed at STW with a near-phobic horror of having my photo taken, and leave with no sense of shame left. Friday mornings were spent with the Forum drumming its fingers in anticipation of Fresh Goods Friday.

After 38 years – which we think is the longest running cycle sponsorship ever – Hans Rey and GT have parted ways. The GT brand was mothballed at the end of last year, and we’ve since seen some long standing GT riders bid farewell to the brand. Hans Rey has now joined them, with this video looking back on 38 years of good times – many of which have been in the pages of Singletrack. Fancy a bit more reminiscing? We’re sad to hear the Lorraine Truong has passed away. A talented rider with World Cup DH and EWS ambitions, she suffered a brain injury in 2015 which upended her life. She became an early raiser of awareness of the risks from concussion in mountain biking, particularly the risks from repeated injuries. The physical effects of her brain injury saw her turn her attention to adaptive sports, which in turn helped bring adaptive MTB to the eyes of the masses, with her helping design the Orange AD3.

Later this week Mark, Benji and Sanny are off on an adventure in the French Alpine resort towns of Les Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz. Perhaps better known for their downhill world cup action they are definitely a huge attraction for the summer full face, downhill riders from across Europe and beyond. But we are looking for something different. We are going on the hunt for the trails outside of the bike parks where the body armour requirement isn’t quite so high.
