Former Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs, on special release Monday night, spoke at a Hope for Prisoners event in Las Vegas and apologized to the family of a woman he killed in a car crash nearly four years ago. Ruggs drove his sports car at speeds up to 156 mph in the city on Nov. 2, 2021, slamming into a vehicle that killed driver Tina Tintor and her dog, Max. Tintor was 23. Ruggs was asked at the event what he would say to Tintor’s family.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — This is the Jewell Loyd the Aces traded for in January, the addition Las Vegas counted on to remain a WNBA championship contender. She scored 21 points, including a 3-pointer with 28.3 seconds left that put the Aces ahead for good, in their 88-84 victory over Dallas on Friday night. Loyd shot with confidence, making a statement from the beginning by scoring the Aces’ first eight points.

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson is in concussion protocol and will miss Friday night’s home game against the Dallas Wings. The three-time WNBA MVP was injured in Wednesday’s 97-89 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. Wilson also could miss Sunday’s home game against Phoenix. The Aces then play at Minnesota on Tuesday before returning to Las Vegas to face Seattle on June 20 and open a four-game homestand.

She was injured in Wednesday’s 97-89 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. If the reigning MVP doesn’t play, that would diminish what would have included a matchup between Wilson and this year’s top WNBA draft pick in Dallas’ Paige Bueckers.

Major League Baseball’s one-year suspensions for betting on the sport ended for four players Thursday — San Diego starter Jay Groome, Athletics relief pitcher Michael Kelly, Philadelphia infielder José Rodríguez and Arizona reliever Andrew Saalfrank. The A’s announced they reinstated Kelly along with left-hander T.J. McFarland, who was on the injured list. They optioned right-handers Elvis Alvarado and Justin Sterner to Triple-A Las Vegas to make room on their big league roster.
