BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo State University announced Thursday that it is cutting 19 programs and the equivalent of 63 full-time staff members in its continued effort to balance its budget. The cuts come as the university says its deficit is projected to be between $15.5 million and $17.5 million as it nears the end of its fiscal year. Interim president Bonita R. Durand said in a press release that the university is on track to balance its budget by 2027-28.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A child is in critical condition after being found unconscious and trapped underneath a vehicle Monday in the Town of Hartland, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies responded to a 911 call about a vehicle accident involving a child around 5 p.m. in the driveway of a residence on Ellicott Road. Deputies were able to free the child from underneath the vehicle, who was then transported to Oishei Children’s Hospital via Mercy Flight, officials said.

(WIVB) — A driver on I-290 West died on Monday after suffering an apparent medical emergency that led to a traffic accident, according to the Amherst Police Department. Police, fire and medical crews all responded to the scene near the Main Street exit, where the driver was pronounced dead. The person’s name has not yet been released.

Murphy and former Green Bay Packers running back James Starks highlight the 12-member 2025 class, which was announced on Monday. The class will be officially inducted into the GBSHOF later this fall.
