Scanlon has been pushing for both proposals — which needed authorization from the New York State Legislature — in order to help balance Buffalo’s budget deficit.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where she died.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A fire on Pennsylvania Street Monday night caused an estimated total of $190,000 in damages to two buildings, officials said. Fire crews responded to a fire at 83 Pennsylvania St. around 8 p.m. The fire started on the exterior of the two-story frame building and spread to both the attic and the second floor. No occupants were in the house at the time, officials said. The fire also caused $30,000 in damages to 81 Pennsylvania St., officials said.
