Snap Inc.’s share price tumbled in April even after the tech company reported encouraging first-quarter earnings that included increased revenue. Shares in the Santa Monica-based technology company that owns social media app Snapchat closed at $9.09 on April 29. The following day, the price declined more than 12% to close at $7.96 on the highest trading volume of the past 52 weeks, with 143 million shares exchanged that day.

Retirement isn’t in the cards just yet for Andy Heyward, chief executive of Kartoon Studios Inc. “I am going to continue making children’s animated programming and try to do something positive for the future generations of kids,” said Heyward, 76, who founded his animation studio in 2009. Heyward is an animation veteran with over four decades of experience. The UCLA graduate got his start at Hanna-Barbera Productions Inc.

Seven Source, an agency that represents manufacturers of roofing and waterproofing products, has always been in Long Beach. But it wasn’t until this month that it established an in-person office space after years of consistent growth. Prior to that, the company operated remotely. Its new headquarters are located at 111 Ocean Blvd., in downtown Long Beach.
California Resources Sees Its Stock Price Drop

California Resources Corp.’s shares have taken a beaten over the last year, falling by about 36%. Since reaching an adjusted closing price of $51.52 on Jan. 2, shares in the Long Beach-based oil and gas producer have dropped by more than $16, closing at $34.87 on April 23. That’s a far cry the 52-week high the stock reached on Nov. 22, at $58.65 a share. The Dow Jones, in comparison, was down by more than 5% from the start of the year.
NeOnc Sees Share Price Fall Since Going Public

The share price of NeOnc Technologies Holdings Inc. has dropped in the weeks since the company went public last month. The Westlake Village clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, which focuses on treatments for brain cancer, had its direct listing open at $25 on March 26. That day the stock closed at $12.11 – more than a 50% decrease. It then spiked by more than 36% to close at $16.55 on March 28 and then fell to reach a low closing price of $7 a few days later on April 2.
Media Firm Sees Its Net Loss Fall

Kartoon Studios Inc. reported its year end financials late last month. The Beverly Hills children’s content producer and distributor said on March 31 that it had a net loss of $20.7 million last year, compared to a net loss of $77.1 million the previous year. Revenue dropped by 26% from the prior year to $32.6 million.
Rocket Lab Looks to Future

Rocket Lab USA Inc. has been busy this year. In addition to its latest launches, the Long Beach aerospace company has scored contracts with Airbus and potentially with the U.S. Space Force. It also acquired Mynaric AG, a. Munich-based provider of laser optical communications terminals for air, space and mobile applications. Rocket Lab founder and Chief Executive Peter Beck said the company is pursuing every part of the space value chain.

With the move of its headquarters to Texas, Space Exploration Technologies Corp. leaves a big hole to fill in Hawthorne. According to the website of the company more well known as SpaceX, its headquarters are now at Starbase, Texas near Brownsville, the site of its launch pad for the Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy rocket, the largest ever built.
