Cal Poly Men’s Tennis kicked off their season with a 5-0 win at home over the Sacramento State Hornets at the Ronca Tennis Center on Saturday, Jan. 25th. After a rain delay set the match back almost two hours, the Mustangs (1-0) swept the Hornets in all areas of competition at home in San Luis Obispo. In doubles, the duos of sophomores Raz Haviv and Sean Kamyshev and sophomore Sean Furgeson and junior Aaron Eliscu both won their doubles matches.

The Cal Poly Men’s Soccer team had been unable to clinch a regular season conference title since their inception into the NCAA in 1967. But this season, program history was made. For the first time ever, Cal Poly Men’s Soccer took first place in the Big West Regular Season rankings. The team finished 7-4-7 overall and 4-1-4 in the Big West, which is one of their most dominant records in over ten years.

The roar of the wind and the crash of unseen debris is a memory that hasn’t left me in the full 19 years since Hurricane Katrina’s right eyewall tore over me just outside of New Orleans.
