Odom has a darker past in Nevada that included being found unconscious inside a brothel. Former NBA star Lamar Odom is scheduled to speak to Sierra Nevada Job Corps graduates in Reno on June 3.

John Doe had appealed his loss in Nevada’s highest court to the U.S. Supreme Court, where he seeks legal clarity on his belief that the First Amendment protects his right to spy on public officials.

With just over a week left in the Nevada Legislature’s 2025 session, Gov. Joe Lombardo has signed seven bills into law. As of May 23, the Assembly and Senate passed 57 bills that Lombardo could sign. That’s out of almost 1,200 proposed. Lombardo approved the first two in February. One was to pay legislators for the current session. The other involved removing humane restrictions on chickens that produce eggs destined for Nevada in order to help lower egg prices.

A state lab confirmed two cases of rabies in bats so far this year in Washoe County and Carson City. The species involved is the big brown bat. The Nevada Department of Agriculture’s Animal Disease Laboratory reported the positive detections May 23. Bats are indigenous to Nevada, and they are most active from May through October. On average, the Animal Disease Laboratory confirms between 10 and 20 cases of bat rabies each year, the state agriculture department said in a news release.
