Denver-based MediaNews is part of Alden Global Capital, which owns or manages 68 daily newspapers and more than 300 weekly publications throughout the United States. The company and its affiliates comprise the largest privately held network of newspapers in the country.

Superior Court Judge Christopher Honigsberg has rejected a legal motion aimed at blocking the operation of a new, aboveground jet fuel tank recently installed at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. Sonoma Jet Center, a key airport tenant, had sought a preliminary injunction that would have prevented Vine Jet, a neighboring hangar business, from filling and operating the 12,500-gallon fuel tank, which was installed March 28.

After three decades of dominating local 911 ambulance response, American Medical Response — known locally as Sonoma Life Support — is shutting down its remaining Sonoma County operations, a move that will affect more than 50 employees. The company, which lost the county’s exclusive, multimillion dollar ambulance contract to the Sonoma County Fire District, has been making due with interfacility transports, moving patients from one health care facility to another.
