Over 200 Darkness Into Light walks are scheduled to take place throughout the country in the early hours of Saturday morning to raise vital funds for Pieta House. You can still participate in the walk if you didn’t register. All you have to do is show up on the morning. Each walk takes place at 4:15am on Saturday, May 10. The charity is experiencing a surge in demand as the number of people depending on emergency accommodation continues to rise on a monthly basis. According to the Department of Housing, there are a record 688 men and women stuck in emergency accommodation in Cork and Kerry - a 27% increase in just 12 months. Cork singer and America’s Got Talent contestant Stephanie Rainey performed on the night, which was hailed as the highlight for many of those who were in attendance.

The Irish Alzheimer’s Society relies heavily on fundraisers and donations made by the public to continue to provide services for people living with dementia, as well as their families. The Tea Day was hosted by Aindrias Moynihan TD and Councillor Gobnait Moynihan, and there was a “huge turnout” on the day, which led to visitors picking up the slack and sorting themselves out with their own mug of tea.
