    A man is due to appear in court this morning over an incident in which a garda was seriously injured after he was struck by a motorbike in Finglas in north Dublin on Wednesday evening. A man in his 20s was arrested following the incident, which gardaí believe involved a stolen motorbike. The man has since been charged and will appear at Blanchardstown District Court on Thursday morning.

    A man in his 20s has been arrested following the incident, which gardaí believe involved a stolen motorbike. Gardaí attached to the Finglas Drugs Unit were on routine patrol at around 5.45pm when they observed two motorbikes at a petrol station on the North Road which were believed to have been stolen, a garda spokesperson said. When gardaí approached them, the motorcyclists drove off and one struck a member of the gardaí as he fled.

    Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision on the R328 at Richmond between Clonberne and Moylough shortly after 12.15pm on Wednesday. The female driver of the car (70s) sustained serious injuries and was brought to University Hospital Galway. The road has been closed for a technical examination to be carried out by garda forensic collision investigators. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward, a garda spokesperson said.

    The camera will be in place on the N25 at Ballynamona and any speeding offences detected by the camera from noon on Friday 30 May will be subject to prosecution. The current Fixed Charge Notice for a speeding offence is a €160 fine accompanied by three penalty points. Other static safety cameras are operational on the N17 Mayo, the N59 Galway, the N13 Donegal, the N69 Limerick, the R772 Wexford, the N22 Cork and the N80 Carlow.
