SPOTLIGHTCherokee storyteller Greg Bilby will give a presentation at George Washington Carver National Monument in observance of Native American Heritage Day at 1 p.m. Saturday in the visitor center. It is a free program. Bilby received his degree in journalism from Oklahoma State University and serves as public health educator and outreach coordinator for the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He will share stories of Cherokee history, heritage and traditions.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) -Breast cancer awareness continues this month in the form of a fashion show. Enchantments Boutique hosted its 18th fashion show at the Jonesboro Country Club Tuesday, October 8. The proceeds of the event go to the breast cancer support group of Northeast Arkansas. Event planner Lisa Davis shared what the support group does. “Whatever a newly diagnosed person needs, they try to take care of,” said Davis.

Esten is a Guinness World Record musician and acclaimed actor known for his roles as Ward Cameron on Netflix's Outer Banks and Deacon Claybourne on ABC/CMT's Nashville. The star will perform songs from the series, as well as music from her first full-length album, “Love Ain't Pretty,” released this year.

Ongoing projects at Little Rock’s Statehouse Convention Center will ensure visitors both see and feel modern amenities at the 220,000-square-foot facility. More than half of the nearly $9 million facelift is complete with an expected completion date of summer 2025. Visitors to the convention center will immediately notice the new interior updates in the Atrium. The center’s primary entrance was completely remodeled from floor to ceiling and now boasts two LED walls.

The 5th Annual Arkansas Duck Derby, which is the premier duck hunting event of central Arkansas, will kick off with a morning hunt on Friday, Jan. 5, followed by an evening banquet. At the derby, registered teams of four will be randomly paired with landowners and experienced hosts from throughout the region (within an approximate 2-hour radius of Conway). Teams will check in their hunt at the HPER Center in Conway. Doors for the banquet will open at 6 p.m. at the UCA HPER Center.
