Mumbai: A BMC sweeper fell prey to a cyber fraud where he was promised nearly Rs 1 crore for 13 old Rs 5 notes and ended up losing more than Rs 18 lakh of his life savings over a period of over six months. The south region cyber police registered an FIR on May 1 against unidentified persons for cheating and impersonation. Mumbai: He could be the youngest complainant in the city to lose crores in a cyber fraud. A 21-year-old accountant, who is also a partner in a private firm, lost Rs 3.63 crore in a fake online share trading fraud over a fortnight. The complainant transferred money to the fraudsters in 24 transactions. In a single day, on March 21, he sent Rs 1.2 crore in four transactions to the suspects. The fraud occurred between March 10 and March 25. An FIR was registered on April 24.
BTech student among 3 held for duping bizman of 15L in share trading fraud

Mumbai: The west region police at the BKC have arrested three men, including a BTech student, for allegedly cheating a businessman of Rs 15 lakh in an investment share trading fraud. While one accused gave his account to park the complainant's money, the other two opened new accounts and sent debit cards and cheque books to their accomplice in Punjab for use in other crimes, police said.
