CHEYENNE – The fourth-ranked Cheyenne Central softball team picked up an upset win over top-ranked Cheyenne East on Wednesday afternoon when the two teams met for the first time this season. Despite a late surge from East in the top of the sixth that cut the lead to just two, Central responded with an eight-run sixth inning to put East away 23-13 and snap the T-Birds' 12-game winning streak. "We just never gave up," Central coach Carrie Barker said.

CHEYENNE — Once in a while, a soccer team can do just about everything right and still come away empty-handed. That was the case for Laramie’s girls soccer team after the first half against Cheyenne East on Tuesday night. The Plainsmen recorded four shots on goal and 10 total shot attempts in the opening 40 minutes against the East. That also included two shots that hit the post. Still, Laramie found itself in a scoreless draw with the Thunderbirds midway through.

CHEYENNE — Rylee Stephenson was perfect in the pitcher’s circle going into the bottom of the fifth inning against Green River on Friday afternoon. The Cheyenne East senior calmly fanned two of the next three batters she faced, earning the third out by forcing a ground ball. The dominant last inning capped a five-inning perfect game for Stephenson, which included her striking out 11 of the 15 hitters she faced. Stephenson admitted it didn’t set in right away what she’d just accomplished.

The Cheyenne Sixers host Sheridan for a big doubleheader tonight at Powers Field. Troopers are coming off a win at the Rapid City Post 22 tourney It will be a match up of the two aces on the mound, with Avon Barney going up against Marcus George.

Summer time means shaking off about 10 years of rust with this sport (I feel like this went pretty well). https://t.co/EVSJuluU7F

FINAL: Kyler Hauf walks it off for the Sixers with a RBI sacrifice flyout to make it 13-3 to get the run rule in the bottom of the sixth.
