SHERMAN — There are three sides to every story, as the old saying goes: yours, mine and the truth. That is the central exploration of Donald Margulies’ 2000 Pulitzer-Prize-winning play Dinner with Friends, now being staged at The Sherman Playhouse. Margulies digs into the themes of marriage, friendship and ravages of time on both. The four-character play opens with the revelation that Beth’s (Erin Shaughnessy) husband of 12 years, Tom, (Chris Luongo) has left her.

OVIEDO, Fla. - If you live in Oviedo, you've probably noticed the city is changing-quickly. More traffic, more construction, and more people. But is all this growth necessary? OVIEDO, Fla. - For more than 40 years, the streets of downtown Oviedo were known not just for their small-town charm, but also for an unexpected local celebrity - wild chickens. The story begins in the 1980s when, locals say, a crate full of chickens fell off a truck. What followed was a tale of free-roaming poultry that became a beloved part of Oviedo's identity. But recently, Oviedo residents have been asking: What happened to the chickens?

There has been an increase in abandoned pets across the state. Now even exotic animals are being left behind and recently, two tortoises were discovered in Ansonia. They were found in a wooded area by two public works employees on Thursday. "I thought it was fake. At first, I was like, 'Oh, that can't be real,' because I've never seen one that big around here," Mike Marino said. Sadly, one was later pronounced dead at a vet and the second did not survive after being taken to the Beardsley Zoo.

NEW MILFORD — There is not a cable or streaming series today that doesn’t owe a great debt to playwright David Mamet. He was one of the first major writers to employ the writing device of rapid fire, naturalistic, overlapping dialogue. One of Mamet’s very first plays to garner him attention and acclaim was American Buffalo in 1975. That play is currently being brought to life on the Theatreworks New Milford stage in a riveting new production.

I never feel smaller than when my 9-year old says, “Who are you cheering for in this game?” I say, “The team playing Alabama.” “Why don’t you like Alabama?” She asks. “Because they always have a good team.” Confused and disappointed look from child ensues.

For the first time in my News career, I get to say the words, “Freak off” on TV today.
