Mauritius Q1 2025: Market up 21.5%, Suzuki at record 28.4% share

Suzuki sales are up 37.9% year-on-year over Q1. New vehicle sales in Mauritius shoot up by 21.5% year-on-year over the First Quarter of 2025 to 4,680 units. Suzuki (+37.9%) tightens its grip on the market to a phenomenal 28.4% share, leaving Toyota (+22.6%) in the dust at 12.5% of the market. Kia (+44.6%) rounds out the podium as it did over the Full Year 2024. Nissan (-10.3%) is in difficulty but manages to hold onto the 4th spot overall above Mitsubishi (+31.3%) which passes Mazda (-7.8%) for #5.

The Volvo XC60 hits a new ranking record in April. Polish new car sales advance 5.8% year-on-year in April to 46,968 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 3.3% to 189,064. Toyota (-10.9%) easily retains the brands pole position with 15.7% share, albeit down one percentage point on its YTD level of 16.7%. Skoda (-7.2%) is at 10.5% of the market vs. 9.8% YTD and Volkswagen (-1%) just edges down at #3.

The Toyota RAV4 is the most popular vehicle in New Zealand. 8,839 new vehicles found a buyer in New Zealand in April, a -4.3% year-on-year contraction. The year-to-date tally is now down -4.9% to 41,031 units. The Top four brands all fall faster than the market. Toyota is off -8.8% to 24.6% share vs. 23.2% so far this year, Ford sinks -27.5% to climbs one spot on March to #2, overtaking Mitsubishi (-10.9%) with Kia (-7.9%) in tow. Nissan (+2.8%) edges up to stay at #5 ahed of Suzuki (-31.1%).
Mexico April 2025: Renault (+103.4%), MG (+42.3%) stand out in negative market

The MG 5 is back inside the Mexican Top 5. 108,298 new light vehicles hit Mexican roads in April, a -4.6% year-on-year dip. The year-to-date tally remains in positive however at 473,402 units, up 1.4% over the same period in 2024. Nissan (+6.3%) defies the gloomy market and widens the gap with the competition at 17.7% share vs. 12.8% for #2 Chevrolet (-14.9%).

The new Omoda C9 pushes Chery up to #5 brand in March. Today we are able to share with you complete sales data for Malaysia in March. 76,515 new cars found a buyer in the country this month, leading to a year-to-date tally of 197,026. Local behemoth Perodua holds 39.8% of its home market, that’s significantly below the 47.4% of last month but still ultra dominant nonetheless. Proton follows at 17.6% ahead of Toyota at 14% and Honda at 12.3%.

The BYD Sealion 7 is inside the Indonesian Top 10 in April. New vehicle wholesales in Indonesia edge up 5.3% year-on-year in April to 51,205 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -2.8% to 256,368. Retail sales are off -3% to 57,031 for the month and down -7.6% year-to-date to 267,514. In the wholesales brands ranking, Toyota (+5.8%) matched the market to 31.4% share, but the next three brands all fall down: Daihatsu is off -6.3%, Suzuki down -16.9% and Mitsubishi at -5.4%.

Cupra is the 5th best-selling brand in Austria in April. 24,855 new cars hit Austrian roads in April, a splendid 16.5% year-on-year lift. The year-to-date volume is now up 7.4% to 90,872. Volkswagen (+6.3%) dominates once again with 14.5% of the market, distancing Skoda (+13.4%) at 10.5%. BMW (+29%) and Audi (+42.1%) both post very satisfying gains to ensure the Top 4 is unchanged on last month and year-to-date.
South Korea April 2025: New gen pushes Hyundai Palisade to #5, Kia EV4 lands

The new model lifts Hyundai Palisade sales up 272.4% year-on-year. The South Korean new light vehicle market is up 6.8% year-on-year in April to 150,188 units. This is split between 128,698 sales for domestic manufacturers (+8.1%) and 21,495 sales for foreigners (-0.3%). The year-to-date tally is up 3.9% to 537,890 including 455,738 locals (+3.2%) and 82,152 foreigners (+7.9%). Hyundai (+7.8%) continues to dominate the brands charts with 37.3% vs. 34% for sister brand Kia (+7.3%).

The BYD Sealion 6 ends the month at #11. 52,643 new light vehicles hit Thai roads in March, leading to a year-to-date volume standing at 164,803. Toyota remains the dominant force in the market with 40.4% shares. 39.5% so far this year. Honda holds onto the 2nd spot with 13.7% share while Isuzu rounds out the podium at 12.1% share. BYD is back up to a best-ever 4th place with 6% share, overtaking Mitsubishi and Ford. MG stays at #7 above GAC Aion, BMW and Mercedes.
Germany private sales April 2025: Fiat Ducato repeats at #1, Skoda Elroq in Top 10

The Skoda Elroq is among the 10 favourite cars of German private buyers in April. 81,557 new cars were sold to Germany private buyers in April for a 33.6% private sales ratio (PSR). This is up 1% on April 2024 when the PSR was 33.2%. Year-to-date, private sales are up 3.1% to 307,574 for a 33.9% PSR vs. 31.8% a year ago. Like last month, the Fiat Duacto is the favourite of private buyers with a 55.2% PSR ratio as camper van building gears up in the lead to summer.
