SANTA CLARA -- After three consecutive trips to the NFC Championship Game and a heartbreaking overtime loss in Super Bowl LVIII, there was only one thing that could make the 49ers’ 2024 NFL season a success. It was a Super Bowl title or bust. Of course, it ended up being a bust. The 49ers finished in last place in the NFC West with a 6-11 record. This is a new season, and the 49ers will have a new look with a significant degree of roster turnover.

SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers have a history of signing their standout players to big-time contract extensions. And it was not always pretty. George Kittle, Fred Warner, Deebo Samuel, Nick Bosa, Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams had, at times, contentious contract negotiations with the team. The deals got done, but they took a while. Kittle, Warner and Samuel got their second contracts completed just as training camp was opening.

SANTA CLARA — Demarcus Robinson has far more experience than any of the other healthy 49ers receivers. On Wednesday, Robinson was a standout on the practice field as a target who has meshed quickly with 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. “Demarcus has been awesome,” Purdy said. “Just having that veteran receiver in that receiving room and showing those guys what it’s like to be vet receiver. “He’s very smart. He’s come in and learned the playbook.
