After a mediocre homestand capped by consecutive losses to the last-place Orioles, the Red Sox begin a six-game road trip on Monday afternoon in Milwaukee. The good news is Boston sends out its best pitcher to face the Brewers, who are also hovering around the .500 mark and are in third place in the NL Central. Garrett Crochet, who ranks fifth in the American League in ERA at 1.98, has allowed more than two earned runs in just one of his 11 starts.

After back-to-back losses in games that began with a Cy Young Award-winning starting pitcher on the mound for the opposition (Tarik Skubal on Wednesday, Chris Sale on Friday), the degree of difficulty isn’t quite as high on Saturday in the second game of a weekend series vs. the Braves. Atlanta righthander Grant Holmes is scheduled to make his first career start against the Red Sox on Saturday. He has had four consecutive winless outings, with his last win on April 20 against the Twins.

After dropping two of three to the Mariners this week at Fenway Park, the Red Sox begin a six-game road trip in Cleveland on Friday. “The group is grinding, he is grinding, he knows it. Hopefully we find it in Cleveland,” manager Alex Cora said. The Guardians are a half-game behind the Tigers in the AL Central after taking two of three from the AL East-leading Yankees. Here’s a preview of Friday’s series-opener, which could be affected by the weather.
