Crews with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service are fighting a wildfire in Ocean County. Officials say that the fire is near Pine Park and the Lakewood Country Club in Lakewood. As of Monday evening, the fire is impacting 33 acres of land and is 20% contained. Officials say that no buildings are in danger because of this fire. They previously stated that six buildings were threatened. No evacuation orders have been given. …The fire comes as New Jersey experiences a record-breaking dry spell.

Leaders across New Jersey say they are growing tired of ongoing rail delays and they want riders to be reimbursed. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, along with other officials, gathered in Glen Rock on Monday to announce a new Public Transit Ridership Plan. Gottheimer says that the goal is to reduce New Jersey Transit delays – most of which fall on Amtrak and its aging infrastructure.

Rep. Frank Pallone has locked down $750,000 to help a Monmouth County community project. The money will be used to assist with the Matawan Lead Pipes Removal Project. It identifies and removes all lead service lines in the borough. Officials say that since 2021, the borough has identified 150 service lines that need to be replaced.

New Jersey will be getting more than $72 million in federal money to help coastal communities use nature-based preventative measures to address climate-related flooding and other disasters. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration made the announcement on Friday in Perth Amboy. NOAA says that it is allocating $575 million to 19 resiliency projects in several states.

A Manchester Township man has been sentenced to 30 years in state prison on terrorism charges. Dion Marsh, 29, pleaded guilty to a series of violent incidents in Lakewood and Jackson Township. Authorities say Marsh attempted to kill and hurt five Jewish people in 2022. They say Marsh ran over four people in a stolen vehicle and stabbed one of them in the chest.
