    Charles CountyJuvenile charged with strong-armed robbery, assaultOn May 1 at 6:11 p.m., Charles sheriff's officers responded to the 2700 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of a previous robbery. Earlier in the day, a juvenile victim and a juvenile suspect got into a fight during school hours. After school, the victim was allegedly assaulted again by the suspect, and his shoes were stolen, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

    A fire claimed the lives of two Charles County men on Thursday morning. Firefighters from Calvert, St. Mary's and Charles counties, as well as some units from Virginia, responded early April 17 to Brunswick Road in Faulkner for the report of a structure fire. The fire was reported at 6:15 a.m. — the second of the morning for many local firefighters after a blaze devastated a La Plata home — was heavy, with smoke pouring from the structure.

Upon arrival, officers contacted two men who reported that Michael Gerard Benedict, 50, of Newburg was allegedly yelling at them and calling them the n-word, charging documents say. Both men that Benedict was allegedly yelling at are Black males, according to the documents.
