    GAITHERSBURG, MD — Two people were injured Saturday in a crash on Sam Eig Highway in Gaithersburg. Montgomery County police said a collision involving two vehicles happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. on westbound Sam Eig Highway at Fields Road. According to police, a Jeep Compass struck a Toyota Corolla at the location. Both drivers remained at the scene. A female passenger in the Toyota was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

    HOMEWOOD, IL — A Markham man died Saturday when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car in Homewood, police said. Shortly after 9:30 a.m., police responded to the intersection of 183rd Street and Hood Avenue after receiving a call about a car vs. motorcycle crash. Upon arrival, officers learned that the motorcycle was traveling westbound in the 1200 block of 183rd Street when it struck a car traveling northbound on Hood Avenue as it crossed 183rd Street.

    PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A man was fatally shot outside a CVS store in Prince George's County on Friday in what witnesses said was a targeted attack, according to police and reports. According to county police, officers were called to the store at 7050 Allentown Rd. in Camp Springs around 10 a.m. for a report of a shooting. When police arrived, they found a man outside on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

    TAMPA, FL — Authorities are searching for a person they say opened fire on a car in Hillsborough County, fatally shooting its passenger and causing a cyclist to be injured as the driver tried to flee. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened shortly before 4:20 p.m. at Progress Boulevard and South 82nd Street in Tampa. According to authorities, the vehicle had stopped to talk to the suspect when they opened fire, striking a man in the passenger seat.

    TROY, MI — A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday after he accidentally shot himself in the head, Troy police said. Officers responded to the home on Crooks Road shortly after 4:10 p.m. after receiving a call about an injured child. When officers arrived, they found the boy, who was bleeding from his head. The child was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He remains in critical condition.
