DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — As the school year ends, it may be a sad day to say goodbye to teachers and friends. But many kids will be happy to see the end of testing. Because the summer is practically the only break they have from them. Despite a promise from Governor Ron DeSantis that there would be less standardized testing, people I spoke to say there is more and more. It’s causing concern among parents, teachers and kids, that our schools are trading too much teaching for testing.

AbstractAutoimmune and inflammatory diseases are polygenic disorders of the immune system. Many genomic loci harbor risk alleles for several diseases, but the limited resolution of genetic mapping prevents determining whether the same allele is responsible, indicating a shared underlying mechanism. Here, using a collection of 129,058 cases and controls across 6 diseases, we show that ~40% of overlapping associations are due to the same allele.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fl — PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fl. (CBS12) - We know teachers are getting stretched thinner and thinner - So it's nice to see some getting well deserved recognition. Wednesday, 22 teachers were given "Teacher of the Year" awards by the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce. The Palm Beach Gardens Marriott hosted the event that gave an award to one teacher from all 22 schools in Northern Palm Beach County.

One of the biggest names in golf, is returning to PGA National. The Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches has announced that Rory McIlory will be playing in the tournament that tees off about a month from now. McIlroy is a Jupiter resident, and currently ranked second in the world. He's arguably the biggest name on the PGA Tour, and won the then-Honda Classic 12 years ago when he was just 22 years old. McIlroy hasn't played in this tournament since 2018.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — On Friday morning, we are learned of yet another name change for the golf tournament that for over 40 years was known as the Honda Classic. Palm Beach County is joining as a presenting sponsor - and this year the tournament will be called the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches. The partnership consists of Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council, Palm Beach County Sports Commission and Discover the Palm Beaches.
