ERIE COUNTY — Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth has been advocating for law enforcement to have access to Epinephrine Auto Injectors, also known as EpiPens, to help people who are having life-threatening allergic emergencies. “We patrol the rural area of the county and many times we have a deputy that might get to the scene first, and it might be several minutes before an ambulance gets there. Some of the folks can be in serious distress and in-need of urgent medical treatment,” said Sigsworth.

Every April, the nation celebrates Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month and honors the experiences and identities of autistic individuals. In Northeast Ohio, different businesses and organizations are doing their part to give back to the Autism community. Vivo beauty bar in Cuyahoga Falls hosted an acceptance cut-a-thon fundraiser, where people were able to donate a minimum of $15 and get a dry cut.

A 64-year-old man was arrested for allegedly vandalizing a neighbor's home in Westlake on Thursday, according to a report from the Westlake Police Department. According to the report, the department received a vandalism complaint from a Westlake resident at approximately 7:01 a.m., who said an older man had spray-painted her house. Two officers were dispatched to the neighborhood. When the officers arrived, they noticed the word a**hole spray-painted on the resident's garage door, the report said.

ERIE COUNTY — At 28 years old, Brad Downing became addicted to Vicodin after surviving a motorcycle crash. "I developed an addiction which then in turn destroyed everything in my path, my family and beliefs that my parents taught me," said Downing. Twenty-four years later, Downing is the program director of the Erie County Jail life recovery program, working to connect the incarcerated with outpatient programs.

Storms moved through Northeast Ohio last week, and lightning is believed to have caused a house fire at a Twinsburg home— the second home struck in the area in six months. Jo Jo Zhou and Miroslav Goubar were devastated when they learned their home was hit by lightning, which caused a fire to destroy the house inside and out. They began rushing home to their 13-month-old daughter and their mothers, who were inside the home during the fire.
