AKRON, Ohio — After almost a year of searching for her 22-year-old son, Xavier Menefee, Trina Koon received a devastating update from the Summit County Medical Examiner's office. "I got a call from the Summit County Medical Examiner saying that they had found skeletal remains and they were pretty sure it was my son."Police said the remains were discovered May 2 around 5 p.m. near a homeless encampment in a wooded area by Silver Street.

A 42-year-old man was injured after a shooting took place in Elyria Sunday morning, according to Captain Bill Lantz, public information officer of the Elyria Police Department. At approximately 11:14 a.m., Elyria officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Melvyn Lane for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found several witnesses at the residence, and the scene was quickly cleared.

The Cleveland Monsters are in the semifinals. After taking the series with a 4-3 double-overtime win against the Toronto Marlies at Coca-Cola Coliseum Saturday night, the Monsters advance to the North Division Semifinals in the Calder Cup Playoffs. The Marlies were up in the first half with Zach Solow scoring a goal almost 15 minutes in. The Monsters trailed 1-0 after the first 20 minutes.

All lanes on I-71 South at I-90 are closed due to a car crash, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation. News 5 was on the scene and could see multiple cars involved in the crash. Two people could be seen unconscious in one of the vehicles. Traffic is at a standstill. Cleveland EMS and Cleveland Fire are on the scene. News 5 is working to learn more.
