Tauran Ivall was out burning branches to cut down debris Tuesday afternoon. Ivall said he lost power at his Southwest Portland home around 10:00 AM Saturday morning. "Tried to get out for some things to tide us over, but coming down our driveway a tree fell right in front where I was taking off. So, we were stuck at that point. Then a few other trees came down, blocked in Barnes Road here, so crews couldn’t get out," he said.

Laurel Kurtz said the power went out at her Southeast Portland home just before 12:30 Saturday afternoon. Her family chopped up an old fence and used that, along with some logs, to stay warm throughout the weekend. "We’ve been cooking on the wood stove and making instant coffee and just huddling and then going under wool blankets at night while sleeping," said Kurtz. Kurtz said the power came back Monday morning, lasting less than a minute before her house was back in the dark.

Multnomah County is putting out a call to action, looking for volunteers to keep doors open as severe weather shelters open across the community. "With more sites open, we need more people to staff them to make sure that operations run smoothly. This response has been a huge effort by literally thousands of people working around the clock to respond to this emergency," said Chair Jessica Vega Pederson. The county served more than 800 people at 10 different locations Saturday night.

Here’s a look at some of the work happening near Highway 26 in Beaverton. Some neighbors here tell me they’ve been without power since Saturday. https://t.co/fYp7N8BNAl

We're seeing this kind of damage across Southwest Portland. Some PGE customers here tell me they lost power around 10 AM Saturday morning, and they're worried that time in the dark will continue with more ice in the forecast. https://t.co/32N8c5RQFQ
