TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. (WVVA) - On Thursday night a list was released by the Department of Homeland Security calling out “sanctuary jurisdictions” across the nation” published under Executive Order 14287 by the Trump Administration. These jurisdictions allegedly undermine the law and obstruct enforcement of immigration laws. Tazewell county was among the localities listed, which was a surprise to local and federal leaders.

PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVVA) - The Mercer County Animal Shelter is soliciting donations to aid an injured cat that came to the shelter as part of a 16-animal seizure by animal control. MCAS recently admitted 14 dogs and two cats from a suspected animal cruelty situation. The shelter says they received a tip that a cat that was adopted out had been left “for several days” by its owner. Mercer County Animal Control was called in to investigate.

LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVVA) - All across the country Saturday, individuals against the recent changes in the government came together for the "Hands Off!" protests. Individuals spoke out in particular over the Trump administration’s stance on DEI and cuts to federal programs. Lewisburg residents banded together to join in on these protests. Before the event, one of the protestors shared her goal for the gathering with WVVA.
