    Windsor police say a 40-year-old suspect has been arrested after a residential break and enter and the assault of an officer. On Aug. 30, shortly after 5:30 p.m., officers were alerted to a break and enter in progress at a residence in the 500 block of Dougall Avenue. Officers say they found a male suspect carrying a large bag in an alley near the intersection of Wyandotte Street West and Victoria Avenue.

    Anyone who didn’t get tickets to see Taylor Swift in concert, can soon see her on the big screen instead. Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour will be playing at movie theatres this fall, including in Windsor. Fans can buy them now online. Cineplex confirmed the concert film will play in over 150 Cineplex theatres around the country, starting on Oct. 13, according to a news release on Thursday. The film will play on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to start.

  • $165,000 in drugs and a gun seized in Windsor and Lakeshore

    Windsor police have arrested three suspects and seized over $165,000 in illicit drugs and a firearm from homes in east Windsor and Lakeshore. On Aug. 30, members of the Emergency Services Unit executed Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants at a home in the 1800 block of Albert Road in Windsor as well as at a residence on Regina Street in Lakeshore.

    There’s an increase in Sexually Transmitted Infections in the region, according to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. Manager of Infectious Disease Prevention Razane Diab tells AM800 that syphilis has really spiked, not only in Windsor-Essex, but across Ontario and Canada. "In Windsor-Essex County in 2018, we had a 5.9 case count per 100,000 population count," says Diab. "We are currently projecting a rate of 12.2 for 2023.

    It’s a busy week for post-secondary institutions in Windsor welcoming students for the fall semester. The first-day jitters have already started for first-year BScN student Ghasak Daud as she gets set up at St. Clair College orientation week. “I'm very excited, counting the days. I was scared in the same time,” says Duad. She says the college made the process very easy.
