RACINE, Wis (Civic Media) – Three peregrine falcon chicks have hatched in the Racine County Courthouse nest box, officials announced this week. The chicks’ parents are a male with no name tag and a new female, Teca, who hatched in 2019 in Indiana. Community members are invited to suggest names for the new arrivals. Meanwhile, in Oak Creek, the first peregrine falcon eggs of the 2025 season hatched at the We Energies Power Plant on Friday, May 2.

Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested on Friday for allegedly helping a man living in the United States without legal status evade federal immigration authorities. Dugan faces two federal felony counts — obstruction and concealing an individual. Dugan’s case is similar to a 2019 case brought by federal prosecutors against Massachusetts Judge Shelley M. Richmond Joseph.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court announced Tuesday that it was suspending Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan after she was arrested by federal authorities last week. The Supreme Court issued an order Tuesday afternoon that it was temporarily relieving her of her official duties and that she is “temporarily prohibited” from exercising her powers as a circuit court judge in the state until further notice.

There are parts of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin’s Northwoods that are under an “emergency” designation. This forest covers 1.5 million acres across more than 10 counties. But former U.S. Forest Service Chief Mike Dombeck is calling out Trump’s logging “emergency” as a policy shortcut. He describes it as the administration’s way of dismantling proper forest management in favor of fast-tracked commercial logging.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WGBW) – A tornado tore a path through Mattoon Monday night, damage surveyed by the National Weather Service says winds hit 80mph. The NWS Green Bay conducted a survey of the damage from the tornado on Tuesday in the Town of Mattoon. They say peak wind gusts reached 80mph, marking it a high end EF0 on the enhanced Fujita scale. It was on the ground for 6.25 miles and spanned 65 yards wide. No fatalities or injuries were reported.
