A man has handed himself in to NSW Police investigating the shooting death of a teenager in Newcastle this week. Ekampreet Sahni Singh, 18, died when he was shot in a car park at Bar Beach about 11:40pm on Wednesday. Paramedics treated Mr Sahni but he died at the scene. Police say a group was fighting in the car park when the shooting happened. They were told a man who arrived in a white SUV got out, fired a weapon, then drove away.

Two people have died in a multi-vehicle crash on the Pacific Highway at Nabiac on the New South Wales Mid North Coast. Four other people were injured and taken to hospital following the crash just before 10am on Monday. Police say it appears a Nissan SUV and Toyota LandCruiser pulling a caravan crashed before the SUV hit a prime mover. Two people inside the SUV died at the scene. They have not been formally identified.

Hadi Nazari was lost in the Kosciuszko National Park for 13 days. He told rescuers he became lost after trying to take a shortcut to Geehi Campground. Mr Nazari used journal entries for logbooks found in a remote mountain hut to plan his route to safety. Journal entries left in a remote Snowy Mountains hikers' hut may have been crucial in the rescue of Hadi Nazari, who spent almost two weeks lost in Kosciuszko National Park.

The Hunter Valley bus driver who was sentenced to 32 years' jail for causing a crash that killed 10 people has begun the process to appeal his prison term. Brett Andrew Button, 59, was sentenced to a maximum 32-year term with a non-parole of 24 years on Wednesday. Button was driving wedding guests from the Hunter Valley vineyards to Singleton on June 11 last year when the bus rolled and hit a guard rail at Greta.
